Music = Emotion

As I sit here on a lackluster Thursday night and try to determine what my first Mojo Blog should be about, I find myself thinking: What better place to start than by telling what music is to MojoMike? So this compilation of written excretion is born.

Put quite simply, Music is Emotion. We call that a simile. More in depth, music is emotion in auditory form in the same way paintings or photography are emotion in the visual form; In the same way sex is emotion in the form of touch. Yeah, I said it. Music is emotive by it's very nature. If you can't feel the music, then you shouldn't be listening to it or playing it, whichever the case may be. There are songs that invoke in me feelings of anger, songs that invoke sadness or pain, and songs that invoke a jovial feeling. When Bad Mojo has a show, I go through a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the set, and I only hope that comes across and the audience is feeling something also. It has a way to leave one feeling drained, yet strangely relieved. I never feel as peaceful as I do the morning after a show...even if I don't sleep much. I refuse to give credit for that to the Lean Pocket or Wawa food I end up eating at 3:00 a.m. upon returning home.
When I saw Disturbed play live, the front man made a comment about the concert experience. He described it as the place we could all "get our evil out"...as though it is a sense of purification. In a way, that is the case. Whether listening to or creating music, we have a unique opportunity to pour all of our thoughts, worries, joys, sadness, anger...emotion, into the music, and let the music cleanse us.
Throughout the years, I have found that my favorite musical artists have been those whose music has conveyed the most emotion to me. Artists such as Counting Crows (Adam Duritz) or Staind (Aaron Lewis) dazzle me with their ability to open up and pour their raw emotion directly into the music in a way that makes it unmistakable to the listener exactly what they are feeling.

That is what music is to MojoMike.
A special thanks to those who come out to a show and join me on that rollercoaster. I hope to see you all at a show soon.

Until Next Time,

POP! There went my blog cherry. This is my first - be gentle. Having said that, I have been following the band for as long as they have been around. When the audience is having fun, the band has fun. Its great to see everyone rocking! I love to dance around when everyone is in the groove!

Blogging....

What the hell is this blogging thing ?

To blog or not to blog...that is the question. We are just a bunch of musicians trying grab our 15 minutes of fame. What better approach than to create a blog.

What the hell is a blog ?

Defined.....is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video....

Or at least that is what wikipedia says.....

What the hell is a wiki ?

Oh well.........

We are a group of 5 individuals that somehow found our way to the same space. the room above a garage somewhere in this insane universe. Musicians, supposedly, and no one will ever convince me otherwise.

We are Bad Mojo.....hear us rock...and roll....and....blog !

Mojo defined: "refers to a magical charm bag used in hoodoo, and in modern usage may also refer to sexual potency"

Ok...that is weird. but that is what the wiki says. Who are we to question its knowledge of the universe...

See what Bad Mojo really is by going to our web site: www.badmojoband.com

That's all for now....this blogging thing is very stressful....
